There are days I sit back and recall
early visions from when the world was big and I was just so small
Grandmother presence tall and strong there beside me
to guide me to the rich honey of the Queen inside me

I learned of simple sounds around I listened
to the soothing humm of a collective vision
now I strain to see their flight
tho some remain to work and fight

I see them sometimes sippin up from my garden
traveling so far into the city
from the stuggling farmlands
taking rest seeking refuge
up in my garden

what will bee when they are gone
who will feed our food their song

their nectar is the sweetness upon which all life depends
and when their hives run dry so much life will die will meet their end

so I pray for the rain and I wait for sun to refresh
the seeds of life
we consume careless of the impact of our appetite
oblivious to the source of endless abundance
we rely on small life for the elixirs of our subsistance

why have we not turned to them to learn from them
turned to them to ask
sisters ‘teach us how to bring forth fruit from seed
teach us how to ripen our offspring into community
to carry on the sacred treaty
the magic the mystery of all of life's fertility

your secret to everlating life is to attend to all with love
